9th month: waiting for D-Day!
You are now in the middle of your pregnancy! Your baby’s heart is big enough to be heard by an ordinary stethoscope.
Your baby is moving a lot, turning and giving you little kicks from time to time.
- Your baby is covered in little fine hairs and their skin is covered in "vernix caseosa", a kind of protective layer containing sebum and epidermic cells.
- Their skin is thickening but they still do not have much sub-cutaneous fat and have a rather crumpled appearance.
- Their fingerprints and nails are now defined. They suck their thumb and their feet...
- Their sex is fully determined and visible. If it’s a girl, all the genital organs will be in place (vagina, uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries).
In the 20th week, you will be able to find out the sex of your baby!
Your baby is growing and putting on weight: at the end of the 5th month, they measure 30 cm and weigh 650 g.
Make sure you rest
For your part, your body temperature will be higher due to an increasingly active thyroid gland. You will sweat more and have hot flushes. Your skin may be irritated.
Make sure you don’t eat too much. Your legs may begin to suffer due to the increase in blood circulation. Continue to use products that help to relieve the minor ills of pregnancy and take time to look after yourself!
