Taking care of my baby’s skin: hydration

At birth, a baby’s skin is particularly fragile and immature. It will gradually be built up over the first three years.

It has difficulty defending itself against attacks from its surrounding environment, is easily irritated and is sometimes subject to red patches. It is necessary to reinforce its protection by applying suitable daily skin care products that are extremely well tolerated, because it absorbs substances much more easily than adults’ skin.

The skin is the protective organ by excellence. It forms a barrier against external attacks and protects against the environment.

However, baby’s skin is very different to that of an adult in its structure and its function: it has not yet acquired all of its qualities and functions to carry out its protective role to the full.
It is precisely because it is soft that your baby’s skin requires all of your attention!

Advice for taking care of your baby’s skin

Use a moisturiser daily to protect your baby’s skin.
   - If they have normal skin, use a light textured moisturising cream and a body lotion.
   - If they have skin that is temporarily dry or to protect their skin against harsh climatic factors, choose products enriched in Cold Cream, for both skin care and bath time.

Always choose skin care products tailored to your child’s skin, which are rigorously formulated, dermatologically tested and always hypoallergenic.
   - Use a stick for their lips and all sensitive exposed areas.
   - Cover delicate areas (head, nose, throat, ears, hands, etc.) well with a hat, scarf, mittens, etc. to protect them against both colds and the drying action of cold weather.
   - Inspect the area behind the ear. Often overlooked, it is subject to red patches and dryness.
