The different childbirth preparation methods

Preparation in the swimming pool

In the water, the body is released in part from the effects of gravity and thus allows the mother-to-be to feel lighter.

The childbirth preparation exercises use gentle, supple movements.

The midwives suggest many movements to soothe dorsal and ligament pain in the pelvis.

The pressure of the water also provides a draining massage that relaxes heavy legs and promotes the blood circulation.

Learning to breathe fully is also extremely important. Breathing in and out deeply helps to develop the abdominal wall and, on the day of birth, better oxygenate the uterine muscle fibres: all of these serve to minimise the feeling of pain.

Water also promotes rest and relaxation.
