Good habits
Follow the advice below to protect your baby’s skin:
Daily hygiene and bath time
• Cut their nails short regularly to prevent them from scratching.
• Bathe or shower your baby quickly (5 to 10 min) in lukewarm water (36°C) using soap-free, fragrance-free cleansing products and avoid using facecloths.
• Gently dry your baby with a 100% cotton towel, without rubbing them.
• Moisture your baby after their bath with a suitable emollient cream.
• Also use a no-rinse cleansing water specifically for daily hygiene during the day.
At home
• Humidify the rooms (maximum temperature 19 to 20°C).
• Air the rooms and vacuum frequently; avoid leaving your child in a smoky environment.
• Hunt down dust and dust mites (carpet, soft toys, etc.).
• Avoid contact with pets.
Clothing
• Use 100% cotton underwear and avoid wool and synthetic materials directly next to the skin.
• Use suitable washing powder and avoid fabric softeners.
Diet
• Advocate continuing breastfeeding for as long as possible.
• Do not diversify their diet until after 6 months.
• Delay the introduction of foods that are said to be “allergenic”, such as eggs or certain fish.
