Breastfeeding

The signs of good feeding

•  A baby that feeds well latches on the nipple well, their eyes and mouth open, making wide, slow, regular sucking movements, and rarely pausing. You should be able to hear them swallow.

They will have plenty of wet diapers, 5 or 6 every day, and at least three soft stools every day in the first month, which should be lumpy and yellow in colour (after the first month, the frequency of stools will lessen).

They will wake up spontaneously several times in 24 hours (at least 8-12 times in the first month).

They will show a steady weight gain.

• And afterwards?

You are recommended to breastfeed for the first 6 months of your baby's life.

You can continue breastfeeding when you go back to work.

Don’t hesitate to ask a health professional for advice about this.
