Introduction
Where to take your baby?
Travelling with your baby needs to be planned in every detail
The seaside: invigorating air and a wonderful playground!
Your baby's suitcase: have you got everything?
Hooray for sandcastles!
• Your baby will definitely enjoy contact with this new element.
• But don’t let him play on the sand naked or even in just a swimsuit: not only will he be exposed to dangerous sun rays, but also to irritations or even infections from the microbes present in the sand.
Pediatric nurse’s advice
• Always take droppers of physiological serum with you so that you can clean your baby’s eyes if he gets sand in them.
The pleasures of the water
• Your baby will really begin to enjoy the sea from the age of one...
• Let him discover the pleasures of the water very gradually, and never insist he goes in the sea if he doesn’t want to.
• To avoid any risk of water shock, take him in little by little.
• A very young child should not bathe for longer than five minutes, as their body temperature cannot self-regulate yet.
• Whatever their age, always supervise your child near the sea.
Snack time...
• Take a cool bag containing drinks and a snack for your child.
• Also think about taking wet clothes to clean his face and hands.
Pediatric nurse’s advice
Beware of mild sunshine!
• Your baby’s skin is immature and fragile and must be protected from the sun’s rays.
• Do not expose your child directly to the sun, as sunburn is dangerous.
• Avoid exposing your child to the sun between 12.00 and 4.00 pm.
• Use appropriate sun lotion for your child’s skin and apply before exposure.
• Reapply in sufficient quantities at least every two hours during exposure and each time after bathing.
• Protect your child even when in the shade, under a parasol or in cloudy weather (over 80% of UV rays get through the clouds).
• Protect your baby with a T-shirt, hat and sunglasses.
• Watch out for dehydration and offer frequent drinks to your child.

After the beach
• A good bath will help your baby to calm down after a fun-filled day. It's also good for getting the grains of sand and salt off their skin...
• Wash your baby with Mustela 2 in 1 Hair and Body Wash.
• To refresh, soothe and moisturise skin dried out by the sea and wind, apply After-sun Hydrating Spray.
At bedtime
• To ensure your baby has a peaceful night, protect him from insect bites by placing a mosquito net over his cot.
• Plug in electric insect diffusers to keep creepy crawlies away.
• Never apply insect repellents to your baby’s skin before the age of three.
