Learning the different ways to carry baby and breastfeeding positions will help your back and breasts to be less painful and will reduce pressure on the stomach and perineum as well as pulling on the kidneys.
It is essential not to always carry your baby on the same side over your shoulder, arching your back. Lay them on your forearm to help their digestion, and carry them in a carry sling instead of a baby carrier that leaves them hanging in the open air with their legs dangling.
A cushion filled with microbeads is the best gift to give a mother-to-be or a new mum so that she can find a comfortable position for breastfeeding.
Try to breastfeed lying down as much as possible, on your side for example, your head firmly positioned on the cushion and your upper knee raised so as not to arch the back, or seated, with a few books under the feet and the cushion on your knees so as not to carry baby in a way that places a strain on the shoulders and neck.
