During periods when colds and rhinitis are particularly virulent, following certain rules of living hygiene can help to reduce the risks of contamination for your baby:
• Wash your hands with soap and water before and after handling your baby.
• Do not exchange toys, teats and bottles with those belonging to others.
• Be careful to ensure that your baby does not come into contact with people suffering from colds. If you yourself have a cold, do not kiss your baby on the face.
• Do not smoke in the rooms where baby eats and plays.
• Air the bedroom and make sure the temperature is never higher than 19°C.
Additionally, you should know that breastfeeding protects a baby from viruses because it passes on mother’s own anti-bodies.
