Skin irritations - Introduction
What are the causing factors?
What are the signs?
What are the general measures that should be followed?
What are the stages of skin repair?
What sort of care is needed?
These skin irritations are linked to a number of factors:
• Climatic: the heat, cold and dampness. Heat can effectively cause maceration around folds in the skin and the dry coldness of winter dries out the skin (and can also lead to chapping).
• Mechanical: rubbing, scratching, sucking on the thumb and teat (due to hyper-salivation and repeated contact with saliva), sequels to little sores and dry patches.
• External: further to surface skin impairments, like chickenpox marks or insect bites.
• Chemical: inappropriate detergents and cosmetics
