Introduction
Recognising the signs
What are the trigger factors?
What are the mechanisms of hypersensitive skin?
Good habits to adopt
• Bathe or shower your child in lukewarm water (36°C).
• Select and use specific, tailored skin care products that ease cutaneous discomfort.
• Use extremely gentle soap-free products for cleansing your child’s face and body, which are formulated with a minimum of ingredients and of course free from fragrance and preservatives. During the day, combine these with a no-rinse cleansing fluid that has the same characteristics.
• Every day, apply a moisturising and soothing skin care product that is tailored to hypersensitive skin.
As a preventive measure, it is essential to adapt your child’s environment in order to limit contact with the factors that trigger this hyperreactivity:
• Protect them as far as possible from the cold and wind and sharp temperature changes.
• Avoid products that could trigger cutaneous reactions.
• As is true for all children, avoid exposure to the sun and in the event of unavoidable exposure, remember to systematically apply a suitable sun care product, combined with protective clothing (hat, sunglasses, T-shirt).
• Avoid clothing that is too tight and potentially irritant substances directly in contact with the skin (wool, acrylic, etc.).
