Definition of naturalness for cosmetic products from Expanscience

In an effort to be transparent with the public and in the absence of enforceable, harmonized regulations on the definition of "naturalness" in cosmetics, Laboratoires Expanscience* has deemed it necessary to adopt the voluntary, transparent approach of explaining its position in defining naturalness in its cosmetic ingredients and products.

The purpose of this document is to define the criteria to be respected when implementing this approach, which we describe as reasonable naturalness.

The document also endeavours to define the conditions under which a product can be claimed to be "natural".

This position is designed to be expanded and amended to keep pace with industry, scientific, technological or regulatory changes.

As part of our continuous progress approach, it will change over the coming years to place more weight on the concepts of biodegradability, environmental design and sustainability as applied to our raw materials and our products.
