Do the parabens used in some of your products present any risk for babies or their mothers?
Parabens are the preservatives that have been used for several decades in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. Certain molecules of this chemical family are currently being questioned. This preoccupation has made us incredibly vigilant.
In cosmetics the health authorities allow the use of a limited list of parabens: methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben. These substances have recently been re-evaluated by the European health authorities and their safety has been confirmed in the light of the latest scientific knowledge.
Mustela has chosen them for some of their ranges because of their efficacy at only a very small dose against the contamination of skin care products by potentially dangerous microorganisms .
These preservatives are also very well-tolerated by the delicate skin of babies and young mothers with no particular skin problems.
