Originating from the Sichuan region in China, our five-flavor berry, more commonly known as the schisandra berry, is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. From organic schisandra berries, we extract an active ingredient with soothing and anti-redness properties, which can be found in our skin care products for very sensitive skin.
Schisandra, a precious active ingredient from a preserved ecosystem
Schisandra is a climbing vine that grows wild, without pesticides or fertilizers, in the temperate forests of southwest China. This rare fruit looks like a small redcurrant and flourishes in a region with an exceptional climate, renowned for its remarkable biodiversity and natural beauty. Nicknamed the “house of giant pandas”, this area is a haven for this emblematic species on the verge of extinction. By sourcing responsibly, we are helping to preserve this unique ecosystem, while at the same time enhancing an ingredient with multiple benefits.
Extracting our organic schisandra, step by step

These clusters of fruit are traditionally harvested by hand or with hand shears by the people living in the surrounding villages, providing livelihoods for several hundred people. As such, this harvesting process does not have any harmful impact on the environment

The berries are dried in the sun in China, in the area where they are harvested.

The berries are then ground, powdered and extracted by enzymatic hydrolysis in France.
